River Ice Breakup

Watching river breakup is cool and interesting to me. Seeing big chunk of ice jamming one on top of another. Some just get swallowed down under and never know where or if it's going to show back up again.

We had a fairly warm winter that caused the river breakup fast and really early. This is the Tanana river by Tanana lakes in South Cushman, Fairbanks, Alaska.

Big chunk of ice on top and under but the river runs through it

Tanana Lakes boat launch - there's still ice and not ready for any boat
