Spectacular Dantes View

Image
It was well worth a long drive (a lonely road) to Dantes View. This was our last stop on our first day of journey to Death Valley National Park California. It was already 3:30 pm when we left the main road and it took us about 20 minutes to get there. A 13 mile paved road but the last quarter mile is 15% grade. A steep climb up but so beautiful. Vehicles over 25ft or longer are prohibited on this road. Please watch our short video  Road to Dantes View  to see the road.  There were few cars when we arrived at The Dantes View but those people were out exploring around. It wasn't crowded at all in fact we were the only ones there enjoying the 360 degrees of breathtaking view of Death Valley from 5475 ft high above Sea Level.  We didn't stay long because it was windy and cold.  It would have been nice to explore the area but it was also getting late in a day. There was a Bee Hazard caution sign on the road but we didn't even get the change to see any. Maybe it's because we

What I learned today

Image
Barnett st. Bridge It was a great day today. I learned a little bit about aviation, smokejumpers operation, and EMT but what makes me so excited was learning how to daisy knot tie. That was pretty cool..so simple yet such a great thing to know how to.

A good way to end my tired day

Image
Such a great day! I learned a lot today from bear safety to using compass and GPS, to watching a video and  lesson learned, and to hiking up the birch hill carrying pulaski with 25lbs back pack. What a day! On top of that I rode my bike 5 miles to home. I'm tired and sore but had a great day. And a good way to end my day was using sauna soaking in hot tub.

Bike to work

Image
I rode my bike today for the first time this year. It was a good ride to work, a little more than 5 miles ride.. However, we had rain storm this afternoon and I got a headache so I called my husband to come pick me up. Here is where I left my bike.

I passed the pack testing today

Image
Today was a big day for me. Did the pack testing and passed it. Carrying 45lbs vest for 3 mile walk, I did it for less than 45 minutes.. 2 minute less. I'm so glad it's done and over with.

I'm a happy Mother today!

5K Chena River Run 2018

Image
Alan my 5 year old boy got to go with me today and did 5K Chena river run 2018. The last time I did this was in 2010. I Never thought I would be running it again...now with my son. So he was doing great for about a mile then he started to whine, then he wanted to be carried. So I had to carry him for about a 1.5 miles to the finish line. So glad I have been working out. I registered both of us online. I did that after the pickup date for bib and tshirt was done. However, we can pick up our bib and tshirt on the race day. When I went to pick up my bib, I was told the tshirt pick up is at the finish line. What the heck?! I was hoping to wear the tshirt while running.  By the time we got to finish line, only one size left - Adult  LARGE! So disappointed! We took the bus ride from Fred Meyer to Woodriver elementary school where the starting line  was. And from Princess Lodge back to Fred Meyer.  Friends and family
