Spectacular Dantes View

Image
It was well worth a long drive (a lonely road) to Dantes View. This was our last stop on our first day of journey to Death Valley National Park California. It was already 3:30 pm when we left the main road and it took us about 20 minutes to get there. A 13 mile paved road but the last quarter mile is 15% grade. A steep climb up but so beautiful. Vehicles over 25ft or longer are prohibited on this road. Please watch our short video  Road to Dantes View  to see the road.  There were few cars when we arrived at The Dantes View but those people were out exploring around. It wasn't crowded at all in fact we were the only ones there enjoying the 360 degrees of breathtaking view of Death Valley from 5475 ft high above Sea Level.  We didn't stay long because it was windy and cold.  It would have been nice to explore the area but it was also getting late in a day. There was a Bee Hazard caution sign on the road but we didn't even get the change to see any. Maybe it's because we

Winter Drive to Anchorage From Fairbanks

Image
Day after Christmas, my family and I took a winter drive to Anchorage on the Parks highway. It's about 360 miles from Fairbanks to Anchorage. When we left home it was -18 degree Fahrenheit at around 10:35 a.m. gloomy and cold. When we arrived in Anchorage the temperature was 14 degrees Fahrenheit should be a lot warmer but the wind made it very cold. Cold to the bone. Oh I love Alaska! Just outside Fairbanks. It was cloudy but at least it wasn't snowy nor windy Bridge in Nenana - about 56 miles from Fairbanks Three Bears store in Healy - about 112 miles from Fairbanks Tatlanika Bridge Train Bridge to the right Denali Townsite is like a ghost town.  Nothings opened and even traffic lights were covered.  About 123 miles from Fairbanks Welcome to Cantwell about 152 miles from Fairbanks You must have blinked - Cantwell Very windy most of the way  At least part of the way the sun gave us great show. Don't get too comfortable in your relationship

Image
A year ago today, my husband and I were in Thailand celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. Now for our 21st, we are in the winter wonderland, Fairbanks, Alaska. With so many great things that happened to us this year, there were also many challenges, trials, and heartaches that we've encountered. Being together for many years, I can say it's not hard to be comfortable. In fact, we've gotten too comfortable that we ended up taking each other for granted. For being too comfortable we've almost lost each other and almost broke our marriage.  It shock our world, made us examined our marriage, and we ended up rewriting our relationship contract. We had to make a lot of changes and still working in progress. But with our willingness to work on it, I'm sure we can make our relationship work and get through any obstacles that comes our way. Here's my little note to whoever read this, please be careful and not get too comfortable. No matter how long you have eac

How Beautiful it gets when it's cold outside

Family Ice Fishing at Tanana Lakes

Image
Alaska Department of Fish and Game hosted a family ice fishing event at Tanana Lakes Recreation area last Saturday November 30, 2019. I went there with my husband and son to take pictures of the event but ended up having a great time ice fishing. The weather cooperated as well, it was warm around 22 °F . When Alan was about 4 years old, we took him with us ice fishing at Chena Lakes. He was too young to remember. So, this time was really his first to ice fish. He didn't catch any fish since he got bored waiting and he spent more time playing and making lots of noise. He did have a great time until it was time to go home. He didn't want to leave because he said he didn't catch any fish yet. We spent at least 2 hours there. I caught two fish and my hubby caught one. We were grateful for the the Alaska Department of Fish & Game crew for drilling holes, providing fishing equipment and baits, and helping family's had a great time ice fishing. Alaska Department of

Why I Resigned my Full time Job with the Federal Government

Image
I have been busy lately trying to get things done around the house. We are going to rent out the house and we have a month to get out of here. November 15, 2019 was my last day at work. I resigned my full time job with the Federal Government. It was a difficult decision especially leaving the people I worked with and the job that I love. It was not easy saying goodbye to people who I've grown to love, respected, and became my extended family. I have gained so much from working for Alaska Fire Service. The knowledge and awesome experiences was priceless. The support and opportunities I had given was great and will forever be grateful. Why I resigned my full time job with the Federal Government? Well, it was time for a change, time to spend time with my family and love ones. Time to travel and take photos to share. It's time to start a new chapter of my life. Alaska Fire Service I will definitely miss them

With a short notice, my husband and I have managed to pull off a nice simple home wedding celebration to friends of our friends in our home. We had 4 hours to shop, clean, decorate, and prepare food. We did it and it's all good. It's wonderful to be a part of the start of this young couple's journey through life. This was after the wedding

Heavy Heart

Image
My heart is so heavy right now.  Something I did not expect and I can't stop thinking about it.  I don't know how to explain and I surely don't know how to handle this feelings I'm going through right now. But I know one thing though, this emotions are helping me make or choose what path to take. But I also know I should not make any decisions right now, it's not wise. Oh my gosh! It's so difficult and it hurts.

Woke up to Itchy Rashes/Hives

Image
I woke up in my hotel room early Tuesday morning to an itchy rashes on my right hand. I started scratching and it felt like my whole body's itching. I took my blanket off and sure enough, I have rashes/hives all over me. This is how it looks like when I woke up the first day. I have never had something like that before. I called my doctor and he told me to get Claritin, zyrtec, and benadryl. Few minutes after I took claritin, the hives started to clear and so was the itchiness. However, after few hours it came back again. Rashes/hives came and go. It changes forms but it didn't matter how it looks, it was pretty itchy. When I got home from my trip, I took benadryl and went to bed. After couple hours, I woke up feeling nauseous and just didn't felt good at all. I went to ER, the doctor gave me benadryl IV and prednisone. After few minutes, skin cleared again. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, itchy rashes/hives was on and off. Sometimes it was more of an on t
