I first heard this song  from my very good friend Norma. She loaned me her Ipod so I can listen to this music. I love it! I cried the first time I heard it and every time I listen to it, it makes me wanna cry. This song is just Wonderful.

The River by Brian Doerksen
To the river I am going
Bringing sins I cannot bear
Come and cleanse me, come forgive me
Lord I need to meet you there

In these waters, healing mercy
Flows with freedom from despair
I am going, to that river
Lord I need to meet you there

Precious Jesus, I am ready
To surrender every care
Take my hand now, lead me closer
Lord I need to meet you there

Come and join us, in the river
Come find life beyond compare
He is calling, He is waiting
Jesus longs to meet you there

  1. I am confused; what is the river? What does the river represent? How does the river cleanse him from sins. What are the healing waters?

What river are we suppose to join him in?

It is a pretty tune, but what is the message? What am I to understand?

Certainly water cannot wash away sin nor does water give me life. If anything we are to meet Jesus at the cross where his death is the sacrifice that removes our sin.

  2. That was beautiful, thank you so much for reminding me about this song.

  3. I'd never heard this song before! It truly is beautiful and I love the message. I think most Christians would recognize the themes and spiritual meanings of water and rivers. Perhaps not so obvious to the non-believer but there is room for music that touches the heart of both! This touched mine and I thank you for sharing!

  4. Thank you Gregg, Shannon, Raquel and Beth for leaving comment. I really appreciate your input.
Gregg, thank you for asking those questions. I will answer them later when I get more time.
Have a wonderful day to all of you.
