We live in a greedy little world
that teaches every little boy and girl
To earn as much as they can possibly
then turn around and Spend it foolishly

We've created us a credit card mess
We spend the money that we don't possess
Our religion is to go and blow it all
So it's shoppin' every Sunday at the mall

All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
It's such a beautiful thing--Ka-ching!
Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You'll live like a king
With lots of money and things

When you're broke go and get a loan
Take out another mortgage on your home
Consolidate so you can afford
To go and spend some more when
you get bored

Let's swing
Dig deeper in your pocket
Oh, yeah, ha
Come on I know you've got it
Dig deeper in your wallet

Ka-Ching by Shania Twain

  1. its sad... we have lost the love of simplicity... makes you wonder what we would ever do if one day we just lost it all.

  2. Ouch! Some times it is so hard to divide the needs from the wants and the wants from the desires. So many things we THINK we need that we could live quite nicely without! We're trying really hard to teach our son (20) to do better than we have done and to count the TRUE long term cost of each financial decision. Not an easy task.

  3. Makes me think of all those guilt commercials...When you care enought to send the very best. Ouch.

  4. Sad but true commentary on human nature. We can spend a life attempting to obtain that which we cannot keep all the while ignoring the things that we cannot loose.

  5. Hey there, Lorena! Thanks for visiting my blog...I jumped over to yours and saw, to my delight, that you are a poet, and your words sing.
God has blessed you, my dear, with a beautiful gift. Thank you for sharing your heart with us.
I will be back. Bye for now.

  6. P.S. I am so sorry for your loss of your dad.
